Robotics
Introduction to LEGO Robotics: This course will introduce you to the wonderful world of LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robotics. In this course you will grow your creative problem solving skills and become critical thinkers and creators. You will find solutions to let you work like an engineer as you answer questions using hands on experiments. You will design, build and test robots that can complete complex tasks, record live data, and responds to environmental changes.
Learning Goals: Build programmable robots using high quality motors, sensors, gears, wheels, axles, and many more components.. This hands-on robotics course enables you to produce simple sequences and commands that link cause and effect using input/output devices. You will make predictions and form hypotheses as you integrate math and science into your building and designs. You are only limited by your imagination, so explore, create, and have fun.
Absence: It is very important that you are in class each day to receive your participation points and complete the tasks. As part of a team you are committed to working with your partner to complete the tasks for designing and building your robot. Please make every effort to be in class to support your team member. If you are ill, please check the classroom folder for the list of assignments and tasks that were scheduled for completion during the time of absence. Lunch time and after school appointments may be scheduled to demonstrate completion and content understanding.
Point System:
You will earn up to 5 points per day for classroom accountability and participation. You must be lined up outside the door and wait for your instructor to invite you in to the classroom. You must find your seat quietly and be sitting ready for the lesson when the bell rings. You need to come to class ready to work with their partner. You must be actively engaged in the tasks and participate. You are responsible for proper care of the classroom materials and put away the robots at the end of each class session. The materials are very costly and will not be replaced should pieces be lost or broken. Please make sure to handle all boxes of materials with both hands, follow in class/lab safety procedures, and treat the materials with respect.
